I love the idea of well kept public campgrounds, but in this case it is executed quite poorly. The campground is located quite far from the services and BBQ area and is directly next to multiple hiking trails. Unfortunately this means there is no security at all and already on the first day a bag was stolen from our tent. Also it is unclear where tents are allowed to be put up as the spot we chose (too small for a camper van) was apparently wrong as our tent was moved while we were hiking. This felt incredibly intrusive we didn't receive notice nor an explanation our tent was not blocking anything and we were practically alone on a campground with supposedly 50 spots. Another issue is that the caldera shape of the bbq area with the water fountains in the center makes it impossible to have some privacy while washing up after a day of hiking, you always feel on display. There are no showers and the toilets are closed between 5pm and 10am so completely unusable for most hikers. All of the above led us to change campsites ahead of schedule and move to Ramón El Caminero which is quite close and felt way nicer. We can only recommend the campground if you travel by car and can lock your belongings away or only leave your tent up while you are staying in it.

The campsite is fine. There's space for several tents, and you can drive right up to it. The restrooms, water fountains, picnic tables, and barbecues are in the recreation area, which is about a 10-minute walk from the campsite. What I liked least was the kind of people who were there, partying. Loud music, shouting until 3 or 4 in the morning... It's supposedly a place to disconnect and all that, but in the three days I was there, I didn't feel that disconnection at all. People were just throwing parties there. Even though the rules say no noise or fires in the area, people completely ignore them. It's a shame.
