Borgo Sambuco

We will highly recomment this wonderful place. It is such a nice Borgo with lot of space and all the comfort you need for 20 people. The surroundings are beautiful and peaceful. And the hosts are so nice and helpful. We would very much like to come back.

Many inconveniences and shortcomings... It's a shame because the facility is overall beautiful. Problems with water pressure (often only boiling water arrived); extremely hot rooms (especially those under the roof) and no air conditioning; towels never changed all week; lack of mosquito nets (so flies, wasps, mosquitoes, spiders, and other insects everywhere); lack of keys for almost all doors; almost complete lack of cell phone signal (sometimes compensated by shaky Wi-Fi); and last but not least, the lack of courtesy, tact, and common sense of the "rude" and rarely present manager.

Beautiful location but very outdated. Communication in English was difficult; although the contact person communicated in English in writing, it turned out in person that she only spoke Italian. The likely use of translation software led to several misunderstandings. Sometimes she didn't respond to messages at all, and it later turned out that she hadn't received them. However, she also didn't answer phone calls. We arrived as a large group at different times; the first ones were let in by the gardener, but there was no proper check-in. The contact person didn't appear in person to check us in and wanted our travel documents sent digitally via WhatsApp. When we refused due to potential data misuse and only sent our passport numbers by email, she sent the police to our house on the second day of our stay. The floor in the accommodation was not cleaned and was very dirty. Only after several complaints was the accommodation cleaned on the fourth day of our stay. The bathrooms are outdated; one toilet didn't flush, the shower water temperature is difficult or impossible to regulate, and the shower cubicles are tiny. The kitchen is spacious and well-equipped, but also old, worn, and in some places unhygienic. The house's furnishings are old-fashioned but very cozy. The house is very noisy overall. The heating works very well, even in the cooler months. The swimming pool was already winterized due to the time of year, but we weren't informed of this beforehand. Overall, the house is in a very quiet and secluded location on a beautiful property with a fantastic view of the reservoir.
