We decided to make Tol and Casa Cachón an alternate stop on the Camino del Norte. We were not disappointed. From the minute we checked in we felt very well cared for. The proprietor was a delight and his English was far better than our Spanish. While we were there, someone who could speak English was always on hand to assist us. We enjoyed the on site restaurant and we were able to have a full meal at 3pm - which for a pilgrim is a big thing! The menu was extensive, the Asturian cheeses were delicious and the hake was the best prepared fish I've had in over a month in Spain - tender, flaky and succulent. The rooms were well appointed and lovely.

Really nice and quiet. A good place to relax. We went half board and the food was fine. Lovely room and well worth the upgrade. Plenty of things to do in the area if you have a car. PS it's in a village called Tol not in Castropol town.

After 3 weeks or so on the Camino del Norte we stopped here. The hot tub was refreshing. The food excellent. What a great place. I hope to return.
