The location is wonderful. I wanted to like this place more than I did, and I think it’s the service that needs improvement. Here, I felt it was a priority to ensure everyone was out of the dining area so they could close on time. What I didn’t realize was this was not an ideal place to stay for longer than overnight. I chose it as a rest day from my trek. However, there are no stores or restaurants, and because of the hours of the hostel, you won’t have access to food at all, unless you go to another town. I wish I had known this— that there’s no access to basic provisions and due to their hours, no access to their services all day— so I could plan accordingly. I felt like a bit of an inconvenience to them, even though I was renting their private room for 2 nights. As I said, I wanted to rate higher, and I think some warmth from the staff would go a long way here. Since it is so rural, the strict hours and limited access make it feel more like a part time business, rather than a warm place to land after (and just before) a challenging hike. I do like that they offer a ‘picnic’ to take on the Hospitales route, but I didn’t partake because I was ready to go, by the second day, before they opened their doors.

Stayed 13/06/2025 - Pristine Albergue right before the trail for the Hospitales. We enjoyed a luxury stay in the adjacent private accommodation set up as a holiday home. Incredible facilities and worth every penny. The set up overlooking the valley is perfect for relaxing with a well stocked bar and evening meal. On the afternoon we were just above the clouds and everyone was relaxing together on the long exterior corridor. The host and staff were very welcoming especially with our lack of booking although I recommend you do book to experience this excellent place. We were well rested and freshly washed for the following days attempt at the Hospitales

A gorgeous albergue, must-stay (also make sure you whatsapp directly if Booking.com says it is full, as they did still have space for me). A beautiful garden, really quiet rooms with only 4 beds per room in mine, and super friendly staff. Such a comfortable way to start Los Hospitales. You can take a shortcut to the Hospitales route as well.
