Called in for the first time one Friday evening (16th Jan), as a few of us were stopping in our vans, ahead of a walk the next day and we wanted a bite to eat and a few beers. It was a cold, wet miserable evening outside, but a complete contrast in the Crown. All the fires were lit, making it lovely a warm and the greeting from Steve was equally warming. The menu looked great, with plenty of pie options, love a pie me, however, we were just after something a bit lighter and although we couldn't see it on the menu that night, they said they could do us soup and a sandwich. The soup was homemade vegetable and was delicious and the ham salad sandwich and side of coleslaw was equally fresh and tasty. We washed it down with a few pints of Guinness and a better kept pint, you'll struggle to find. We had a lovely evening, very friendly and welcoming, with lovely food and although we didn't stop in the rooms, they look beautiful. They've only just taken over the pub at the end of last year, but already started investing in the place and after talking to Steve, he has some great plans for the place and I can't wait to return again to see how it develops. Would definitely recommend calling in for food and a pint and to book the rooms if you're looking for somewhere to stop over, you're guaranteed to get looked after, Steve and Lynn are as friendly and welcoming as you could wish for and their enthusiasm for the place is wonderful! 10/10 from us, we will be back.

Amazing place. It's under new management and the hosts are incredibly friendly and welcoming. We'd forgotten how friendly people can be in the north. The Black Sheep beer was delicious. My fish and chips were perfect, batter light and crispy. The fire was roaring, a great atmosphere and we had a delicious home made supper, even the pie was home made. We were returning tonight but unfortunately cant now, but hopefully we'll be back. I couldn't recommend this pub too much. Many thanks.

Sitting proudly at the very start of the legendary Yorkshire 3 Peaks route, The Crown Inn is exactly the kind of pub every walker hopes to find but rarely does. Whether you’re lacing up for Pen-y-Ghent or crawling back after conquering all three summits, this place feels like a reward in itself. Run by Steve and Lynn, the pub blends the best of both counties: warm, no‑nonsense Lancashire hospitality delivered right in the heart of Yorkshire’s limestone country. It’s friendly without being fussy, welcoming without being over the top, and instantly puts you at ease—muddy boots and all. Inside, you’ll find a fully stocked bar that does the job properly: great pints, a solid whisky shelf, and enough choice to keep both locals and weary hikers happy. The atmosphere is exactly what a Dales pub should be—cosy, relaxed, and full of character. If you’re staying over, the Crown offers 10 B&B rooms, ideal for early starts, late finishes, or simply making a weekend of it. Rooms are comfortable, clean, and perfectly placed for anyone tackling the peaks or exploring the surrounding countryside. In short: great people, great location, great pub. The Crown Inn isn’t just a stop on the 3 Peaks—it’s part of the experience.
