Oakeley Arms Hotel

We were welcomed by lovely friendly staff. We enjoyed a delicious meal here tonight. Hubby had Chicken Tandoori with chips and salad of which was huge and he thoroughly enjoyed it I had Farmers lamb shank which came with mash potatoes, lovely fresh veg broccoli carrots and peas . We sat by a lovely log burner enjoying our drink after our meal . We would definitely come here again

When we arrived, there was no one at the check in to mark us off. We were told to sit by a passing staff member. We waited around 10 minutes and no one came to take our order. I went back to the check in and waited and told them we'd been waiting some time. We were checked in and served straight away. Food was amazing, best carvery around. The dessert -brownie -was one of the best brownies I've had. However, there was no access to the actual dessert menu and we only had access to the specials. We actually wanted the brownie with waffle but just the brownie came. That was because we just asked for the brownie, not knowing *just* a brownie was available. We were asked when ordering our main meal if we wanted dessert. I'd rather have waited till after my meal before deciding. No one came to take our dessert order until we asked a member of staff. 2 desserts came but the third took some time. Wed rather have waited until all 3 were ready. I'll definitely eat there again, the food was good and whilst service was a bit chaotic, staff were friendly overall. I can see the place is mega busy and I'm not a total crank. Not a 5 on the rooms as we were seated by a door. It was cold and busy. Credit to the chefs 😋

Dropped in for food so I can't comment on the rooms hence 4*instead of 5*. Really nice staff. I ordered Sheppard's pie and it was one of the best I've tasted, nearly as good as my own. The other half ordered baked potato and chicken curry and again,no complaints. It's a nice comfortable place to have a bite to eat and have a couple of relaxing drinks.
