Casa Nel Vento

Based on—incomprehensibly—good reviews, we had booked a room for two nights at B&B La Casa nel Vento in Fidenza. It was one big disappointment from start to finish. The reception was unwelcoming. After looking around the house for a bit, we were called upstairs by someone who made it clear that the room was not yet ready. He (I don't know his name and he didn't ask for ours either) seemed uninterested, asked nothing, and offered nothing to drink despite the heat. The room was 'cleaned' with a cloth, a bottle of spray, a Dyson, and a mobile phone. The result was commensurate: everything was sticky and dusty, the toilet brush in a bucket was dirty, and trash bags were missing. Poor lighting was supposed to conceal all of this. The breakfast was meager and consisted of a croissant with filling; we had to ask for coffee, and the remaining apricot juice went back into the bottle afterwards. The departure was just as impersonal as the arrival: not a single sign of interest. We decided to skip the coffee and left without getting a bill. But anyway, we weren't registered, so all in all, interesting for the Guardia di Finanza, I guess. What I haven't told you yet—and let this be a warning—is that after the first night I woke up covered in a rash and with terrible itching, the result of bed bug bites! A few doctor visits were necessary, and I still have symptoms. In short, it is high time for a breath of fresh air to blow through this house!! And now let's just hope this review doesn't get removed this time!

Beautiful place, nestled in the countryside, with very kind owners who are attentive to their guests' needs. Even though it was a very hot day, the room was very cool without needing to turn on the air conditioning. A little corner of paradise. Excellent breakfast. Highly recommended both for visiting the area and for those like me who simply need a break from a long journey. I will definitely be back!
