Restaurant, Ferien & Gasthaus s'Pfännle

Really nice restaurant serving local German dishes. The food was fantastic with very friendly staff. I'll definitely visit again the next time I'm in Hinterzarten.

I went there with the expectation of tasting "local food." The service was a bit rough as commented by other costumers here -which I did not care. they got my order wrong even tough I pointed at the menu and order with the number in the menu. Instead of loin with creamy sauce with mushrooms, I got a very beige plate of loin with french fries and salad on the side. I believe it was an honest mistake and I accepted it without argument. Yet, the overall taste of the food was not right. Meat was plenty, well cooked, served with butter on the side. Salad looked like store bought mix and it was swimming in its dressing -but still ok and fresh. French fries... they were unfortunately processed. their artificial salty taste and extremely large portion took over the meal. I could only imagine how much my meal would improve if fries were replaced by typical potato salad in right portion. Overall my meal was filling, but not hearty nor savory.

A nice restaurant with cozy and friendly apartments, local food typical of the southern German region, at a good level. Not the best in the genre, but not bad. A great place for lunch at a reasonable price.
