We had a little family get away here and loved it! We stayed in sheep shack which was so cosy with everything we needed. Liz and John were very friendly and even invited us onto the farm which our son loved. During the day we walked to the village farm cafe (Really nice spot for brunch). Then walked down to the ferry and spent a few hours in Salcombe followed up by the beach (Mill Bay being our fave). Great stay and we hope to return in the summer!

John and Lizzie offer a warm welcome to their small holding. Log cabins nestle at the edge of their fields with views across to Dartmoor. Their eco friendly off-grid holidays give you comfort and a wonderful base to relax in and John and Lizzie have gone to the maximum effort to be as low impact as possible. Meadow Barn Farm is based in the South Hams, is a ten minute walk from The Gara Rock Hotel and there's the cafe just down the road offering great food and drink with local produce and some of it from Meadow Barn Farm. We stayed on Oyster the boat. This steel hulled lovely is permanently moored in a quiet secluded spot, its moored in such anway that it stays permanently level, and im pleased to report that inside is lined with timber. The boat is warma and dry, it has a little bio ethanol stove that quickly boils a kettle, theres a littl prep area for food. The two of us slept comfortably. Being mid September we thought it might get cold but with the door and hatch closed it hold its warmth well. I woke up, made a cup of tea and sat on the deck as the tide went out. There was complete silence, lovely views down to Salcombe, the occasional boat may pootle by, but thats about it. A beautiful spot to relax in and just watch nature do its thing. Just sitnand enjoy the peace. From there its not too difficult to get the ferry to Salcombe, enjoy the solitude of the coastal path, or just enjoy John and Lizzie's hospitality, watch the animals, while reading a book and relax. There's lots here to enjoy in the beautiful unspoiled area of the British Countryside. It's a treat.

If it's peace and tranquillity you are looking for, with views stretching to the misty tors of Dartmoor & just loads of fresh country air, then Meadow Barn Farm accommodation is just the ticket! I stayed in Driftwood Cabin, which was so quaint and quirky, I could hardly believe my luck. It's not that far from the farmhouse but feels like it is alone in the depths of the countryside. Everything inside makes for a very comfortable stay; the little two ringed cooker, the roomy butler sink, cosy armchairs, compact wood burning stove and wonderful bed in the eaves. At the same time, every thing is in keeping with the reclaimed, eco friendly nature of the place. John & Liz are lovely hosts - there if you need them, but not intrusive. And if you are looking for a little less quiet, Salcombe is only a ferry ride away and there are plenty of sandy beaches nearby to keep all ages happy. 😊
