If I could rate this pub 10 out of 10 I would as it was just the best pub meal experience I have had In a very long time and the service was just real local honest friendly service the like of which is just not seen anymore. My friends and I had visited Alston and as it was wet and miserable decided to head to this pub for lunch. It sits isolated all by itself and if you were not aware of what awaited you, you would drive right passed. Inside you will find real old pub charm with a bar, restaurant and two lovely warm fire places. We sat in the restuarant and to eat had the cheese quiche, mince and dumplings, roast beef sandwich, chicken parmigianna and cottage pie. This food is all freshly cooked and served and made with love. Really lovely big tasty serves of food to fill and warm you up on a cold winters day. And the chips are real home cooked chips. The deserts also looked amazing but after all the food above there really was not room. We washed all this food down with what can only be described as a really delicious pinot noir. The service was just so friendly we chatted with the lovely lady who served us for over 30 minutes as she was super interesting and really invested in us having the best time. I really cannot rate this place highly enough if you really want a taste of English pub food at its finest you really need to go.

Nice place to have a ride out, some cracking roads to get there if you like that sort of thing. Service was extremely friendly and our Sunday lunch was great. Early January, but plenty of wood being burned, so probably too hot for me! One thing, they like cash if you can, for obvious reasons. happy to help them out.

We came for Sunday dinner so cannot comment on the rooms but the dinner and pudding was delicious, lovely home cooked meal in a cosy setting. The staff were extremely accommodating after we abandoned our walk due to the weather and arrived over an hour earlier to our booking. I would highly recommend the Langdon Beck!
