A basic kampong with water, a dishwashing area, and an Eastern Bloc toilet outside. If you don't have high expectations, this is the campsite for you. The website clearly states what's available and what's not. Don't be swayed by the negative reviews; they're not honest and objective. They're from people who haven't properly looked at the website and photos and then complain. The location is fantastic. Spacious pitches, electricity, and drinking water. You walk out of the campsite and you're on the beach. It's easy to walk to the southernmost tip of Latvia. In the village, you'll find an information office and a supermarket. Friendly residents are happy to tell you all about it. I could go on for another hour. Just discover it for yourself. We thank the campsite owner for a super friendly stay.

In over 40 years of travelling and camping this is by far the worst "camping site" I have ever experienced! And by far the worst price-performance ratio. Basically a scruffy bare field, almost bare of grass, no shrubbery of any nature. What you get for the over-priced fee is a place to pitch your tent / park your vehicle, cold water, power to charge phone. All water on the site is cold and brown (unfiltered). There are 2 washhand basins mounted on a board, no roofing. This is where you wash dishes AND brush your teeth. No privacy for washing yourself. Only cold shower cabin available otherwise. Here too are the sockets for charging phones. No cover or roof, fully exposed to rain. A miracle that no-one has been electrocuted yet. And you can only set your phone on the board for the wet dishes. Just 3-4 meters away are the "toilets". A little hut with 2 cabins containing a sitting board with a hole covered by a lid. Lift this and you are confronted with the excrements of all who have "gone" before you! Very shallow. Absolutely ghastly. The shallow trench extends to the rear and is loosely covered by a board. You can thus enjoy the stench while brushing your teeth, washing up, or eating/sitting in the "common room" just beside the sinks. This is a tipi-type tent roof that flaps around and wallops you on the forehead when you try to duck in or out. It protects against rain at least, if not from the prevalent strong winds here. Dark inside. No light. No picnic tables outside. Only benches around fire pits. These seem to attract the campers. A few groups arrived late after dark, set up camp, lit fires and were extremely loud into the wee small hours. Cannot understand that people otherwise come here voluntarily. Many, many other absolutely idyllic sites around on these beautiful shores for less money! Great example of green washing. The homepage is very fancy and promises esoteric magic. A pity the owner does not really take more pride in the exceptional place that has been entrusted to her care. I think she has never been camping and certainly has not camped on her own site. It defies belief that such places have a licence to operate.

We spent a few days here in the middle of the week. The nights were quiet. The campsite is simple but generally maintained and tidy. Toilets, showers, wash basins are very primitive. Since we were traveling with a camper, this was irrelevant for us. The water here is ferrous and thus brownish. This can irritate. However, the location of the campsite itself is excellent. The sea is right here. Don't be lazy to get up early and meet the sunrise at the sea. It is a rare opportunity. The beach here is narrow but charming, lined with fallen trees. You can walk along the beach and in 30 minutes at a leisurely pace reach the Cape of Kolka. There is a Citro shop nearby if you need something.
