A great hotel made by great staff. All very well trained, attentive and prepared to engage. Food is amazing. 5 course dinner has a choice for everyone and attention paid to potential allergens first class. Lovely breakfast. Lounge area great for relaxing. Golf course good but check with pro shop about busy times to avoid.

Our 2nd visit here and as expected absolutely loved it. Friendly, polite staff who pay attention to detail. The hotel itself perfectly situated with lovely sea views. Inside is very posh and striking. The best spa facilities out of any of the hotels we have been to, and benefits from a gym as well as options for spa treatments and therapies. Breakfast amazing with lots of options. Rooms clean and well kept, plenty of space. Definitely will be returning at least once a year.

We stayed during Feb half term with some friends and our young children. We had an inland facing room, which was fine. The bathroom was tiny and in need of a refurb. The truckle bed my 4 year old son was given had a really old, stained mattress and was very uncomfortable. These need replacing. Other than that the room was fine for us, functional but lacked any luxury. Breakfast was excellent, great choice and attentive staff who are quick to clear plates. The pool and spa was lovely, great facilities and very clean. I had a wonderful facial - thank you Sophie! The kids entertainment and play room were also most welcome in rainy weather but the play park could do with an upgrade as there is not much on offer, just one slide. Dinner is what caused us issues. As a family friendly hotel, dinner not starting until 630 was a problem for us with very young children. We were forced to eat in the spa bar from 6pm, but many other families had the same idea and we were all crammed in there with no space for us all and no option to eat in the lounge where there was ample space and tables. Very strange decision and ruined our evening dining experience. The food was very good though. On checkout I as concerned to find we couldn’t get an itemised bill, this left me uncomfortable as two people in front of me queried their bill and it became apparent mistakes had been made. I ended up paying a bill without knowing what I was paying for. We would return to Carlyon Bay, mainly because the pool, food and activities is great for the kids.
