Muckross Youth Venture Centre

A truly unique place to stay. The hot showers were a god send after tackling Carauntoohill.

This is a brilliant, well run facility which makes group trips accessible to those on a budget. It's not shiny and new, you'll see chipped or peeling paint and dated furniture, but it's clean, warm and spacious. It was ideal for our group of 40 on a kids sports training weekend. Lots of bunk beds, some 3 high, with basic but comfy foam mattresses. The kitchen is a good size, well equipped including two big fridges, a freezer and lots of HUGE saucepans for cooking dinners (the big catering cooker hob took a bit of coaxing to get started but got the job done). The heating was great and the water temperature and pressure in the showers was fabulous. A great find - we'll be back!
