Hôtel le Lion d'Or

One of our favorite places we stayed on our Europe trip. A charming hotel with very hospitable hosts. Our room was very comfortable with everything we needed- even a refrigerator and coffee and tea. It also had automatic blinds to bring down for a nice, dark sleeping room. They have a lovely garden area to relax in - and to watch their pet tortoises wander about. The hotel is right across the street from the spa-which was so relaxing to visit. We did a nice hike in the area that the hotel recommended. Their hotel breakfast was good and we ate dinner there 1 night. We loved that the whole family was involved-including the aunt's wonderful cooking! We were there in the off season so it was not crowded-but not as many restaurants were open. The road was being torn up in front of the hotel to put cobblestones in-should be done by December 2025. Luckily, they also have a back entrance to use. Thank you for such a nice stay and if we are in the area again-we will be back!

Great location. Beautiful building. Comfortable rooms. Delicious dinner and breakfast. And we got coupons for the nearby spa which was fabulous. Thank you!

My mother and I stayed here after reading a blog that it is *the* place to stay in Cauterets and they were not wrong. The room was clean with mountain vibes, the bathroom featured lovely custom tile. The service from the entire family was top notch. I knew they served breakfast with homemade items, but didn't realize they offer a prix fixe dinner menu as well, which was both delicious and convenient. We came early in the season and many shops and restaurants were still closed, plus it was nice to just pop downstairs after a long day of hiking. Another delightful surprise were the tortoises that live on the patio, which were charming to watch. We very much enjoyed the hotel and would absolutely stay again.
