Old Kings Design Hostel

I had a fantastic stay here!! It was self check in, so I didn't have to worry about my train being late and could come in at 11pm fine. The staff in the morning was extra friendly and great to chat with. Bed was super comfy. The included towels were huge and super nice. Plenty of room in toilet and shower area. I usually don't do great with top bunks, but the ladder up was super easy to climb! Overall had a fantastic stay!

They claim to have "absolute silence" at night, but there is no on site staff to enforce this. Many guests are very loud. Bathrooms are terrible: only 1 toilet and 2 see-through showers, nowhere to put clothes except the wet floor. Men's bathroom is on the third floor, women's is on the second. No staff at reception, so the Füssen Card is hard to get. When I asked for early check-in or luggage storage, I was told it “takes the full time to clean & sanitize” which is obviously false. Especially since check out is very early compared to other places nearby. Bunk beds are impractical for adults, exit sign lights the room at night, and there are no coat or towel racks—just a random decorative globe. No guest kitchen. Misleading, uncomfortable, not recommended. There are better options nearby.

This hostel was great. They include a towel with your stay which is a great added bonus. It’s in a quaint area that is indicative of Bavaria. I’d recommend this hostel. Just make sure to check your spam folder for the door code! It’s close to Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau Castles. You’ll need to walk to one of the train station bus stop or the other one to get a ride to the castles, but it is a relatively short walk. The bus fee as of 8/11/2025 (or 11/8/2025 for us Americans) was 5.80 euros round trip.
