Hostal Ruta Esmeralda

This is for the restaurant only. Passing through town stopped for menu of the day. We had two mixed salads that were good and my friend had the lomo. Unfortunately for the second course there were only potatoes or white rice available for a vegan. The desserts was good there was a fruit compote and a chocolate tart. There were a lot of smokers in the enclosed terrace that you had to pass by to get in and inside the smoke was coming in, but if you sit in the far end of the dining room you cant smell it there.

Right on the Camino de Santiago, but a very basic place at a service station. Room was suitably clean and maintained relative to my expectations. No wifi at the hostel; only at the restaurant. Menu del día and desayuno were both good, and popular with peregrinos.

Great parrillada! We stopped in at this busy parrillada for lunch whilst we were driving from A Coruna to Oviedo. On the recommendation of the friendly waiter we had the churrasco de tenera (grilled beef), churrasco de cerdo (grilled pork ribs) and chorizo. The meat was very tasty, cooked and seasoned to perfection - although the beef was a little fatty and we didn't really like the chorizo. It was served with 2 delicious sauces and we opted to have this with salad and bread. The portions were generous, the prices were very reasonable and the service was excellent.
