Berghotel Schmittenhöhe & Restaurant Genussalm auf 2000 m Seehöhe

Wonderful hotel in the most stunning location. Lovely spacious, clean rooms. Staff were all really friendly and attentive. The half board food menu - whilst not tons of options (this is a mountain hotel after all only accessible via Gondola in winter!), had meat / veg soup starter, a least 1 x meat, 1 x fish and 1 x vegetarian main and desert. There's also a salad bar with plenty of fresh options that you can top up with. Dream holiday, we will be back again next year hopefully! Shout-out also to our main waiter for the holiday Senad who was very friendly, great energy, quick to serve us, and accommodating to our requests. The way he whisks about the place serving people and clearing plates always with a smile of his face is a sight to behold!

Great visit as always but you need to sort out the food situation. Breakfast ist ok, lunch offering oh well, dinner ist too little, especially after being on the mountain all day. Don‘t skimp out on food amount! We ended up hungry after dinner most nights and had to order more food. So please don’t ruin this great place my cutting corners on food. Return to offer buffet at dinner with a great options and also cook some more Austrian dishes. Again, only my two cents. Otherwise it was fun and friendly staff.

The woman at the pasta/pizza point needs to be fired immediately. Absolutely horrendous service, extremely rude. We asked for pasta and she reacted like we’d just finished her first born. The person in front of me asked for bolognese and i asked for pomodoro, she put as much effort in to make sure we could see how much this pained her, so I buckled and said i’ll have bolognese as well. She didn’t concede, apologise or even thank me. We also got smaller portions than what I’d seen other people with. I can’t reiterate how shocking it was, especially for €20 a plate. Everything else was fine but for her, you get a 1 star review.
