Hostel Lia

During my recent Camino through Orinon Spain, I read a review of a hostel which included dinner & breakfast. It wasn’t directly on the path however I was intrigued by the reviews. A quick What’sApp communication later, I was being welcomed into a small abode which I can only describe as “nourishing”. The host provided hospitality at every turn. The dinner was organic, delish and filling. I’m still thinking about her red pepper gravy. If it’s possible to dine knowing you are enjoying family recipes; this is what I experienced. The bathroom was small but clean. The bedroom was safely tucked in the back of property. Upon my departure, I was again shown the kindness of Lia’s care for her pilgrim guests; a robust breakfast (including a pot of American coffee) and snacks for my day’s journey. During my Camino, I attempted to stay in all different size and style of accommodations. Lia’s was my favorite. I hope to find my way back to her hostel again. A gem of the Camino del Norte.

I had a brilliant stay at Hostel Lia. The owner was welcoming and friendly from the moment I arrived. She went out of her way to make sure I was comfortable and had all the information I needed for the area and my ongoing Camino journey. The dinner was fantastic, 3 courses and wine served in the garden looking out towards the impressive mountains. I appreciated the simple breakfast that was made available early so that I could pack up and carry on hiking. I am glad that I made the effort to detour in to Orion. The walk was lovely, the beach is great and the hostel was clean, comfortable and quiet. I recommend staying at Hostel Lia.

It's a few kilometers from the camino (although you can take an alternative route from here to Liendo), but it's soo worth it! 5 minute walk to a beautiful beach and Manoly (who runs the place) is very friendly. She will cook for you and leave breakfast for you in the kitchenette. A real camino experience :)
