Gîte les mélèzes

What a find this place was - the best accommodation (by far) of our entire TMB hike. Eric was the perfect host, welcoming and entertaining. The pre-dinner drink and cheese platter was perfect for us as a whole group to 'break the ice' and start to develop conversations. Dinner was beautiful, from the entree to the shot of Eric's little 'rocket fuel' spirit drink. Was magnificent. Most of all, we started some great friendships with people that we met at your place - this has been such a good part of the TMB for us. ...... do yourself a favour - this is the one place you must stay during your hike !!!!

While hiking the Tour du Mont Blanc at the end of August, we stayed one night at Gîte Les Mélèzes. Of the 10 days of hiking, this was the second most enjoyable place to stay. The hosts were a well oiled team, he ran the kitchen while his wife kept everything else organized. Before dinner they offered locally made appetizers with drinks to encourage the guests to talk with each other. It was a great way to get a variety of discussions started which continued on through the good dinner. The dessert was a real highlight with tasty blueberry pies. Really glad we stayed here versus some of the larger alternatives along the TMB.

Only the highest of praise for this incredible Gite. This was our first night on the TMB and we were spoilt and later huts did not even come close to matching the standard delivered at Les Mélèzes. Juliet and Eric are fantastic and kind hosts and clearly put a lot of love into this place. We were well fed and watered, ready to hit the trails the following morning. When we were there the UTMB happened to be going by and the guests were all invited to the front of the gite to watch the runners go by. Eric treated us to a little glass of génépi as we enjoyed the spectacle with neighbours. It was such a special experience. It is a little outside of downtown Les Contaminés but puts you right on the trail head to continue on your way the following morning. Merci Beaucoup Juliet et Eric!
