Casa do Adro is a fabulous, small guesthouse managed by third generation family members. The hostess Edahlia absolutely could not be more gracious or generous. You will feel like you are staying with your Bubbe. She met us at the door, showed us where we could visit the kitchen after hours with a refrigerator filled with beer, wine, spring water and coffee and then showed us to our room where she had left two generous slices of chocolate cake that she baked earlier in the day. Breakfast in the morning consisted of a beautiful fresh fruit platter, fresh eggs and ham, yogurt, toast and strong coffee. We were also treated to fresh local bread and a meat and cheese plate and invited to make sandwiches for our lunch (we are hiking the Rota Vincentina trail), pack up the remaining fruit and she supplied a plastic container for storage. Truly, this is the best breakfast and best service we have received anywhere which is saying a lot because we have enjoyed every stay we've had. Edahlia brings this to a new level altogether. Simply wonderful in every possible way.

When I read the reviews of this place before booking, I thought they might have been a bit exaggerated. Instead, I must admit that I had one of the best hospitality experiences ever. Mrs. Idalia welcomed us warmly, provided everything we could need in the room, and even surprised us with a welcome treat (tea and a delicious chocolate cake). The house is beautiful, spacious, with two terraces and complete privacy. Mrs. Idalia lives downstairs, while the guest rooms are upstairs (with a separate entrance available until a certain time). Breakfast is simply outstanding – generous, varied, and freshly prepared every morning, with fruit, eggs and bacon, toast, jams, yogurt, cereals, and more. The room was spotless, and they even provided disposable slippers. This guest house offers services that, in my opinion, are on par with a 5-star hotel. I honestly couldn’t find a single flaw, and I will definitely return!

Staying at Casa do Adro was an unforgettable experience. This is not just accommodation – it feels like home, and what a home! The lovely lady who runs it has a rare gift for hospitality, making you feel immediately welcome. I was greeted with a warm cup of tea and the most delicious homemade chocolate cake – a memory I’ll cherish forever. The house itself is authentic and full of character, right in the heart of Vila Nova de Milfontes yet perfectly quiet. Breakfast on the terrace was simply magical: served on exquisite Portuguese porcelain, with care and elegance that made every morning special. Casa do Adro is one of those rare places that captures the soul of Portugal – warm, authentic, and unforgettable. A true gem not to be missed.
